With the proceeds from the sale of the house and the landscaping company, Shawn went back to school for his MBA, graduating first in his class and was awarded the “Outstanding Graduate Student” award. After a stint as an apprentice in a well-respected appraisal firm, he earned a Certified Residential Appraisal license and started an appraisal company. With an extensive knowledge of construction, valuation, and finance, Shawn’s unique skill positioned him to have the tools to start purchasing homes to rehab on a larger scale. With those first projects, he observed the impact that the renovation of just one home could have in creating a new market within a neighborhood. And that’s how New Market Homebuyers came to be. Over the last 20 years, New Market Homebuyers has expanded into a variety of real estate ventures, including the development of raw land and agricultural land, eminent domain experience, assembling an expansive rental portfolio, operating short-term vacation rentals, joint ventures, home expansions, and new construction.
